There's a mockingbird singing outside.
Its music is full--peaceful, cheerful, and hopeful.
If it was any other part of the day, I wouldn't be able to hear it, nor would I notice its clear song.
But right now it brings me a comfort that not many other things can bring.
You see, it's midnight, and the grief of the anniversary is burdening me and makes sleep distasteful to me.
It's midnight, and a mockingbird sings of the morning and the coming sun.
"The sun is not extinguished!" it trills. "It's merely on the other side of the planet! It will rise in the east soon! Sooooon...."
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4
